Hey everyone! I’m currently a free-to-play player and I’m about to hit level 80. I’m thinking of upgrading to a full account but I’m torn between buying JW right now or just waiting for the next sale next month to get the complete Elder Dragon Saga at half price. I’m also curious if getting JW without any elite specs will be frustrating or if it’s worth it in the long run.

If you want to save some cash, consider getting JW just to unlock the F2P limits but hold off on diving into the story. The Steam sale in March might have great discounts on all expansions, and personal experience shows it’s much more satisfying to play through the game in order.
Yeah, I just wanted to pick up JW now to get rid of the F2P restrictions, mainly to get a mount and have complete access to the Trading Post. I’m not planning to really dive into JW’s story until I grab the other expansions first.
I recently got back into the game and decided to grab JW first because it won’t be on sale for a while. The Warclaw helps with exploration, and I’m planning to get the other expansions on sale in March. If you’re aiming for the best value, the HoT+PoF+EoD bundle is going to give you a lot more content than just JW.
If you’re about to hit level 80, I’d really suggest waiting and playing through the whole story in order. Going straight to JW skips over a lot of content. If it helps, you might want to dive into fractals and work on getting a legendary backpiece for some quality of life upgrades. It can take some time to gather the gear you need for that, so it might be worth starting now, even while waiting for the sale.
It really depends on what you prioritize. If story matters to you, getting the expansions in order is the way to go. However, if you’re mainly focused on gameplay and overcoming F2P restrictions, buying JW now can be a good call. Just keep in mind that the next sale is likely around March 13-20.
Honestly, if you don’t care about playing the story in order, just grab JW for the mounts. It’s essential for content later on, so it’s not a bad call to pick it up, especially since you’ll be leveling and grinding.
I ended up buying JW because I wanted access to the spears. I use them all the time on my thief, and they add a lot to gameplay. I’d recommend checking it out if you want that kind of weapon.
Why even go for JW when you can get HoT and PoF? They offer tons more content for a similar price and give you mounts and elite specs. Totally worth considering!
