I’m building a PC with a 5080 GPU and a 9800X3D CPU. I’m considering using the MSI B650-S motherboard for around £130, which I believe supports PCIe 4.0. Is it worth upgrading to a more expensive motherboard for about £90 more to get PCIe 5.0? Is PCIe 4.0 going to be a limitation for my 5080 GPU, or should I stick with the B650-S? Appreciate any advice!

Honestly, skimping on the motherboard might not be the best idea. The motherboard is crucial for stability and performance. If you’re going with high-end components like the 5080 and 9800X3D, investing in a better board like the B850 or X870 might be worth it. You don’t want to risk compatibility issues later on.

Going for the B650-S is okay, but you might run into issues if you need to update the BIOS later since older boards can have compatibility problems with new CPUs like the 9800X3D. It might be a safer bet to invest in the B850 or X870 just to avoid potential headaches down the line.
