Should I Give ESO a Shot if I'm Not Great with MMOs?

-

I’ve been wanting to try Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) but I’m not sure if I’ll enjoy it since I usually struggle with MMORPGs. I absolutely love all the Elder Scrolls games and the lore has me intrigued, but I’ve faced some issues with MMOs in the past, especially games like Guild Wars 2 and World of Warcraft. Here are my main concerns:

1. Is the game overly grindy to the point where doing basic tasks takes forever?
2. Will I need to spend a lot of money on content and subscriptions to enjoy the game?
3. Are the DLCs reasonably priced? I’ve noticed MMOs can sometimes have unfair pricing.
4. How complicated is the game for new players? I prefer to learn at my own pace and often find myself overwhelmed by too much information and mechanics.

So, I’m asking if ESO aligns with any of these red flags or if it’s different from your average MMO.

You’ll probably love it since you’re into Elder Scrolls! The grind can be manageable, especially with the crafting system making it easier to get what you need. However, yes, ESO does have a subscription model which unlocks a lot of content, so you might want to consider that depending on how often you play. The base game still offers plenty of fun!

Honestly, if you enjoy the lore and story-driven gameplay of Elder Scrolls, you’ll have a good time with ESO. A lot of the game can be played solo, so you can dive into the rich world of Tamriel without the need for constant MMO interaction. The game has tons of content, and while it can be grindy, you can choose how much you want to engage with that side of things. Plus, with ESO+, a lot of DLC is included, which is nice if you play regularly.

Yep! If you’ve been hooked by Elder Scrolls, you’ll find plenty to love in ESO. The biggest draw for me is the storytelling, which feels very much like the single-player games. You can ignore the grind and just quest or explore casually if you want. Just tackle things at your own pace and you should be fine!

Absolutely, ESO is as grindy as you choose for it to be. You can play it at your own pace and not feel pressured to grind if that’s not your style. Plus, you can just quest alone, which keeps the experience chill and enjoyable. Many players stick to the story and explore without getting into hardcore MMO aspects.

I get where you’re coming from! The game does have its complexities, but it’s not overly complicated for newcomers. The quests are structured well, and you will have guidance along the way. I’ve managed to enjoy it fairly casually without diving into the MMO grind.
