I’m a bit late to the current console generation and primarily use my PS4 for playing Bethesda and Rockstar titles. My old Xbox 360 is on its last legs, so I’m looking for a new console. I’d love to enjoy classic games like Skate and Fallout, along with newer titles such as the Doom series, No Man’s Sky, and Red Dead Redemption 2. I’m planning to buy a lot of games but will only install about 3-5 at a time to manage storage. Which console do you guys think is better for this situation?

Before you decide, think about your internet speed and whether you’ll use Game Pass. I have a Series X with an external drive, and I have room for about 15 larger games, with about 300GB left after some cleanup. Just to note, the Series S has only 364GB of usable space, and some big titles like Call of Duty take up a huge chunk. If you’re on a Series S, cloud gaming could help save storage, especially if your WiFi is solid.
Honestly, if you can swing it, the 1TB Series X is the way to go. You won’t regret the extra storage and performance.
Definitely sounds like a solid choice. Just trying to make sure I can save a bit of cash for the Series S next year.
I’ve got both consoles, but for the best gaming experience, the Series X is a beast compared to the Series S. The S is nice, but it feels like a lighter, ‘diet’ version of gaming.
So if I want to upgrade from my 360 and PS4 to the Series X, I shouldn’t worry about getting a PS5 right now, right?
Thanks for the input! I’m checking out some options this weekend. The Series S is cheaper and easier to find, but I’ll weigh my options if the X is truly worth it.
