I’m at a crossroads here. I’m a huge Nintendo fan and love games like Animal Crossing and Mario Kart, but after seeing the lineup for the upcoming Switch 2 and reflecting on the price, I’m feeling a bit underwhelmed. I’ve been missing out on a ton of great indie games that are available on other platforms, and I’m wondering if now is the time to switch gears. If I get a Steam Deck, I can dive into a huge catalog of games I’ve been eyeing for years, plus I can save some cash and avoid the hassle of pre-orders. I just don’t feel the same excitement for the Switch 2 as I did in the past. What do you all think?

The Steam Deck really opens up a ton of possibilities. I sold my OLED Switch after getting mine, and I haven’t looked back since. The Switch 2 can wait!
Steam Deck is awesome because it isn’t just locked to Steam. You can get great deals from other sources too, or even emulate older games easily. It’s like having a whole gaming world in your hands.
I took my time deciding between a PS5 and a Steam Deck, and I’m so glad I went with the Deck. The library is just amazing, and deals are incredible. You might love it!
That sounds like the experience I’m looking for! Just a ton of fun and savings!
Honestly, there’s no rush to grab the Switch 2. Steam Deck can be a fantastic investment too! Plus, the library is massive and always growing.
I wish I could get both, but finances are tight after buying our house. Can’t afford to be multi-platform right now.
I think you should go for the Steam Deck now. You can always get the Switch 2 later when the price drops or if they release a revision. Plus, the Deck gives you access to a ton of games right away.
Yeah, and with everything going on globally, I doubt there’ll be a significant price drop shortly after launch.
That’s a solid point. Just don’t forget that new consoles usually see revisions down the line.
And the emulation capabilities are fantastic! That makes it super appealing.
