I just got myself a 14th Gen i7, but I’m experiencing a lot of instability. Undervolting has helped with the temperatures a bit, but my voltage keeps jumping between 1.3 and 1.4 volts while gaming and even fluctuates from 0.7 to 1.3 volts when idle. I’m feeling uneasy about using a tweaked BIOS that’s not stock, and I’m considering switching back to a 12th Gen i7 for the sake of stability. Do you think that’s a good move, or should I wait for Intel and motherboard manufacturers to address these issues?

Honestly, do what feels right for you! After spending all that cash on a new processor, I always hesitate to switch back unless absolutely necessary. But yeah, if stability is your main concern, it might be worth considering.
You just bought that? You knew there were issues with the 13th and 14th gen Intels, right?
I found out after the fact. I bought it on blind trust in Intel.
If you’re considering switching, why not try an AM5 setup instead?
I already got an LGA 1700 motherboard, and Intel’s return option is way more straightforward.
1.4 volts is totally normal under load. What are your main concerns here?
Asus mentioned that it was high, and I had to tweak settings to keep temps from hitting 82-88°C while gaming. The voltage fluctuations really make me uneasy, plus the fear of CPU degradation.
Is your BIOS up to date? That’s super important for stability with new CPUs.
Yeah, it’s fully updated. I’ve done everything I could.
Thanks for the advice! I’m just worried about performance versus reliability, you know?
