Hey guys, I’ve been rocking a ROG Ally X, but I’m feeling nostalgic for my old Steam Deck, which sadly bit the dust. I’m planning to return the ROG Ally and get my money back, all while saving up for a move soon. I’m torn between getting the cheaper LCD or going all out for the 512 GB OLED model. Most of my gaming happens on my laptop anyway, so is the OLED upgrade truly worth it? Any advice is appreciated!

You could think about getting a second-hand LCD—it’ll save some cash for sure. But if you want brand new, opt for the OLED for that shiny, premium experience. Many used LCDs have upgraded storage, so check those out too!
Also, you can put Bazzite on your ROG Ally X to get a Steam Deck-like experience. It’s not an OLED, but it does have 120Hz VRR, and the IPS screen still looks pretty good. Just something to consider if you’re on the fence.
If you got the funds, definitely go for the OLED. It’s got better battery life, slightly improved performance, and the 90Hz screen is way superior in quality. LCD is cool if money’s tight or if you mostly keep it docked, but for the best experience, OLED’s the way.
I’ve tried both, and honestly, avoid the LCD if you can. The OLED’s just a whole different game when it comes to screen quality. You’d regret going for LCD if you could’ve gone OLED!
