I have a PS5 and a collection of Steam games, but I don’t own a computer. I’m torn between getting a Steam Deck or using my phone for cloud gaming and Share Play, paired with a controller. What would be the better option for me?

Deciding between a phone or the Steam Deck also depends on whether you plan to dive deeper into PC gaming. If yes, the Steam Deck could be more beneficial since it offers the flexibility for more traditional PC use, expanding beyond just gaming. However, if you just want a quick fix without spending much, sticking with your phone and a controller might suit you just fine.
If you don’t have a computer, the Steam Deck is definitely a solid choice. It’s like having a mini PC that lets you play your games directly without relying on a strong internet connection like you would for cloud gaming. Plus, you can even use it as a regular computer if you need those kinds of features. On the other hand, playing on your phone with cloud gaming depends heavily on your internet speed. If you want hassle-free gaming, the Steam Deck gets my vote.
I actually enjoy streaming my PS5 to my Steam Deck using chiaki-ng, but I did notice it’s way smoother when my PS5 is connected via Ethernet. Wi-Fi caused too much stuttering for me. So if you go this route, make sure your setup allows for a stable wired connection to your PS5.
