I’ve recently gotten back into gaming after a long break and currently play on a Steam Deck, mainly in handheld mode but sometimes connected to the TV. The 720p on the TV isn’t cutting it, and I’m not keen on constantly tweaking graphics settings for decent performance. I’m contemplating building a PC for better performance, especially to use in the living room like a console. I don’t want to spend more time at a desk after work. I’ve heard about Bazzite, which might give me a Steam Deck-like interface. On the other hand, a PlayStation is tempting for its simplicity and exclusives, but I’m hesitant due to having to repurchase games from my Steam library. What’s your advice—should I stick with what I have, or make the move to better hardware?

I’d say go for the PS5 if you’re looking for ease of use and less hassle overall. It’s got killer exclusives, physical games, fewer hackers, a solid controller, backward compatibility, and great features like local co-op and an awesome 4K bluray player. Plus, PlayStation games often get a bit more love from big developers and many Japanese titles.
I gave Bazzite a spin on my desktop. It works great if you’re sticking to Steam and modding through Steam Workshop. Anything beyond that can get tricky, so I switched back to Windows. Just FYI, Windows 11 can suspend like your Steam Deck. As long as you don’t mind some tweaking and aren’t into heavy modding or multiple launchers, Bazzite could be a good fit. Plus, it runs on both AMD and Intel GPUs.
I’d just go ahead and build a PC, hook that bad boy to the TV, and use Steam’s controller-friendly interface. PS exclusives often come to PC eventually, so maybe patience will pay off. You’ll encounter updates on both systems, but it’s not a dealbreaker. PS5 might be more budget-friendly, but diving into PC gaming’s upgrade possibilities can be super satisfying.
