I’m in a bit of a bind here and could use some advice. I currently have a 4070 Super, which I really enjoy, but I just picked up a great deal on a 4K OLED monitor. Now I’m feeling the pinch with only 12GB of VRAM. I can’t afford a 90-series card, so I’m weighing whether to grab a 7900 XTX with its impressive 24GB of VRAM or go for the 5070 Ti, which offers DLSS 4 and comparable performance. The XTX is about 8% cheaper where I live, and ray tracing isn’t a priority for me. I’m looking for something durable that will last me over three years. My gut tells me to lean towards the 7900 XTX. Any insights?

It really depends on your priorities. If you want to take advantage of ray tracing or prefer DLSS 4 for upscale performance, the 5070 Ti could work for you. But let’s be real, at 4K, the 7900 XTX will absolutely shine, especially for more demanding games where that extra VRAM makes a significant difference. From my experience, you don’t want to skimp out on a true 4K GPU—go with the XTX if that’s your primary setup.
If you’re mainly looking for solid performance at 4K, the 7900 XTX is definitely the way to go. The 5070 Ti may be good, but it’s really more suited for 1440p; you’ll struggle at 4K with only 16GB of VRAM in the long run. Since games are becoming more demanding, having extra VRAM will really pay off for future titles. Plus, the raw power of the XTX will give you a much better experience with all those gorgeous graphics.
Thanks for the clarification! I just ordered the 5070 Ti, but now with the XTX price drop, I’m considering switching to it for that extra headroom in VRAM.
That’s some solid advice. I made the mistake of thinking a mid-range card could handle 4K and it didn’t quite cut it, so I get where you’re coming from!
