I’m considering purchasing the 9070XT Taichi, which is currently the cheapest option at £650. I’m not very knowledgeable about GPUs or PC components, so I’m unsure if this is the best choice. I’ve heard some concerns about the 2×6-pin power connector—how big of an issue is that really? My current PSU is 750W; do I need to upgrade to 850W if I decide on this GPU? Alternatively, should I consider the 5070Ti? The cheapest one I found is the Gainward GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Phoenix-S for £700. I’d love to hear your suggestions!

When choosing between different models of the same GPU, the main factors are personal preference for the manufacturer and how much you plan to overclock. If you don’t have a brand bias, then the Taichi is a fine choice since it’s the cheapest right now. If overclocking isn’t critical, you should be good with what you choose.
The Taichi is part of Asrock’s premium lineup, and I think it performs well. The power connector is common among these cards, so just ensure it’s plugged in securely. Though the 5070Ti pulls less power, it generally offers better performance, particularly in ray tracing. If you prioritize RT gaming, I’d lean toward the 5070Ti, but it comes down to your preference.
I was leaning towards the 5070Ti, but I’m hesitant about the Gainward model since not many people seem to recommend it. Is that a valid concern?
If you’re considering the 5070Ti, just remember that the Gainward model is the only one around that price right now. Not everyone is a fan of Gainward, so it’s wise to look for reviews to make sure it’s a solid choice for your needs.
I don’t have a bias either; I just want the best for my budget. I’m okay with some overclocking if needed!
