Hey everyone! I’m a returning player after a long break since 2013. I maxed out one character to level 80 but haven’t played since. I’m really looking forward to starting fresh and leveling up a new character. My question is: at what point should I consider buying the expansions? Will I miss out on any important features or content while leveling if I don’t purchase them right away? Or is it better to wait until I hit level 80?

You just missed out on a summer sale where all the first 10 years of content was $50, and now it’s $100. Sales do happen but not super often, so you might want to wait for another discount!
Grabbing the expansions gives you access to the Trading Post for buying and selling, and you also get a basic raptor mount, which is super useful. The Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire expansions are often on sale, so keep an eye out! Plus, leveling to 80 happens pretty quickly.
You don’t really need to buy the expansions until you hit level 80 if you’re going through them in order. However, if you get the End of Dragons expansion early, it unlocks the elite specializations for you. This way, you can train them in any order once you’ve got them unlocked, and it gives you some more options as you progress.
If you bought the core game, you already have access to the Trading Post. And you can use mounts if you find a rental though you’ll need to have the Path of Fire expansion to get a permanent mount. But honestly, the raptor is worth it for leveling!
