I’m considering getting an Xbox Series S. I’ve mostly played on Nintendo consoles before, and while the Switch 2 has been announced, I’m not entirely sold on it. The Series S has been out for about five years now, and I’ve heard that the next-generation consoles might arrive in a couple of years. I’m worried about investing in a console that might soon feel outdated, especially since it seems there aren’t a lot of new games coming out for it.

There should be a good cross-gen period when the next Xbox launches, so the Series S should still be relevant for a while!
For me, it’s definitely worth it! You can play both old and new games, and if you use a regular monitor or 1080p TV, the performance is just fine. It’s smaller, cheaper, and it gets the job done, especially on a low budget.
At this point, I wouldn’t recommend getting the Series S. Given the recent price hikes, it’s not even the cheapest console anymore. If you’re looking ahead, you might as well save up for the Series X now.
I wanted to get the Series S mainly because it fits my space constraints, and being digital-only seems more convenient. But I’ve heard that playing via cloud should match the quality of the Series X, is that true?
