I’m considering picking up a PS5 Slim in 2025 since I really want to dive into GTA 6 on launch day. I currently have a high-end PC, but I’m curious if the PS5 can deliver a good experience with my 1440p monitor. How does the PS5 perform with AAA games at 1440p?

Honestly, if you’re thinking about getting a console, you might want to hold out for the PS5 Pro instead. It could offer better performance if you’re serious about gaming at higher resolutions.
From what I’ve seen, you’ll likely be playing GTA 6 at 30fps with an upscaled resolution from 1080p since I doubt the PS5 can handle 1440p natively. But if you’re okay with 30fps, it might be alright! I’ve got a 1080p monitor, and the upscaling looks decent enough for me.
So, every game just upscales to 1440p? I’m all about that GTA 6 experience, even at 30fps. I remember enjoying RDR2 on my PS4 without realizing it was only 30fps.
You can expect playing at either 60fps in native 1080p or possibly at 1440p with some upscale. It really hinges on your HDMI cable and TV setup. Plus, if you’re a fan, getting it could be great, but if you’re not in a rush, waiting for the PC version might be worth it.
Just a heads up, GTA 6 may be locked to 30fps.
No way I’m spending that much though. I’m hoping to keep it under 450 euros at most!
