I’m in the UK and looking to buy a PS5. I noticed the official PlayStation website has a refurbished disc version priced at £389, while a brand new one is going for £479. Both options come with a one-year warranty. Has anyone had experience with refurbished PS5s? It seems like a smart choice, given the same warranty, but I want to hear what others think before I make my decision.

Check out Argos! They have an Astro Bot slim digital bundle for only £330 and a disc version for £430. Plus, they’re offering the separate disc drive on sale for just £69. I’d say it’s better to buy new if you can swing it, though!
I’d steer clear of refurbished models, even from Sony. I’ve read multiple stories about PS5s running too hot and frying. If they’re true refurbishments—that is, actually previously used—then parts could fail under stress. However, if they’re just repackaged due to minor issues, then maybe it’s fine. But like others have suggested, grabbing an Astro bundle from somewhere like Argos or Curry might be the safest bet.
If you’re buying from a trustworthy seller, definitely save some cash and pick up the refurbished one. This way, you’ll have extra funds for a premium membership or games!
Why not go for the Astro Bot bundle? It’s a fantastic deal! I got mine and couldn’t be happier.
You could also use Klarna to spread out the cost over three months. A lot of shops, including the PlayStation website, accept it. But personally, I’d still lean towards buying new.
