Should I bother with RE6 or just move on to RE7?

-

I recently wrapped up Resident Evil 4 Remake and wanted to jump into RE5, but I wasn’t a fan of how it played on PC, so I ended up watching a summary instead. Now, I’m attempting to play RE6, and I’m finding it even harder to enjoy. The game is packed with Quick Time Events, the inventory system feels chaotic, the keybindings seem off despite my adjustments, and the guns handle poorly. Movement feels sluggish, and going solo is probably making things worse. Overall, the vibe just doesn’t sit well with me compared to the earlier titles in the series. I’ve played RE1 through RE4, with RE Village being my ultimate goal as it piqued my interest in the franchise. After 4 years, I’m finally halfway through, but I really don’t want to spend around 30 hours on a game that makes RE1 feel modern in comparison. So, is it worth playing RE6, or should I just skip to RE7?

If you can team up with a friend, give it a shot! I had a blast playing RE6 with my brother. Having someone to share the experience with really elevates the fun, making even the less enjoyable parts more bearable. But if you’re just going solo, I’d say it’s not as worthwhile.

That’s true! Playing with someone does make even the bad games more enjoyable.

Honestly, I’d recommend you skip RE6. It’s a convoluted mess, and compared to the solid storytelling in earlier games, it feels lackluster. If you don’t have a strong investment in the lore, just head straight to RE7. It’s a much better entry point into the series.

RE6 isn’t as bad as many say. It’s definitely the weakest in the franchise, but there are some fun co-op moments. Still, if you didn’t enjoy RE5, I’d just watch a summary of RE6 for the lore and jump right into the much better RE7 and 8!

I’ve been playing RE6 with a buddy and it’s been surprisingly fun! The gameplay is goofy, and even if it doesn’t take itself seriously, that adds to the experience. But yeah, if you prefer solo gaming or are looking for a horror experience, RE7 is the way to go.

I totally get where you’re coming from. RE6 lacks the tension of earlier games and leans more towards action without much horror. The pacing feels rushed, with constant action taking away from the exploration and atmospheric moments we love. If you’re not feeling it, I’d suggest moving on to RE7, which does a much better job of returning to the roots of the series.
