Setting Up Retro Gaming in Your Car

-

Hey everyone! I just picked up a used car that has a DVD player with wireless headphones and a composite input. It got me thinking—has anyone tried setting up something like a Raspberry Pi or other devices to play retro games using the car’s screen? I’m interested to hear any examples or projects you all may have tried!

I’ve thought about doing something like that too. Most newer cars have Android systems with Bluetooth and USB ports, so there are definitely options to consider!

Yeah, that sounds like a solid way to go! I was thinking about incorporating that into my setup.

Haha, good luck convincing your partner to drive while you game! I tried that and ended up getting yelled at!

Definitely do some research! Raspberry Pis are great for this, especially the Pi3 and Pi4 that both have composite output through the headphone jack. You can use them for retro gaming easily!

I actually modded an original Xbox to run emulators for my kids during road trips. It worked great for that retro experience!

LOL, I heard that you like video games, so why not game while you drive? Just keep it safe!

Not many people set up retro gaming systems in their cars anymore since handheld devices are so popular now, but it’s definitely possible! You could get creative with it!
