I just wrapped up 116 hours on Persona 5 Royal and I’m hunting for my next gaming adventure. While it was a bit too anime-like for my taste, the mature themes and darker undertones were riveting. I’m after a game that carries a strong narrative and adult themes. It doesn’t matter if it’s long or short, I’m just eager for an engaging story-rich experience. I’m playing on Switch and would love to hear some recommendations!

If you’re open to a more traditional RPG, give Bravely Default 2 a shot if you haven’t already. Triangle Strategy is also a good call for its story elements, even if the name might not do it justice. Both offer substantial narratives to enjoy.
How about Yakuza Kiwami? It has a strong story and is quite different from what you might expect. You don’t need to have played the others to enjoy this one, as it effectively kicks off the series’ storyline.
That’s great to know! I was wary because of the series length, but I’m keen to dive in knowing it’s a good starting point.
For something with a lengthy story, try Unicorn Overlord. I’ve seen it gain popularity, so it might be worth the time to explore its narrative.
Thanks! That title seems to pop up everywhere I look, might just have to give it a chance and see what all the fuss is about.
Metaphor Refantazio might be right up your alley! It takes the Persona formula but dials up the darker themes and keeps the story progressing in an engaging way. Plus, Witcher 3 is another one that doesn’t shy away from mature storytelling if you haven’t already experienced it.
For a great story with mature themes on the Switch, I’d suggest diving into the Xenoblade series, particularly Xenoblade Chronicles 2. It offers an emotional journey and epic storyline. Also, Fire Emblem: Three Houses is a fantastic choice if you’re into deep strategy and character-driven narratives.
Sweet, thanks! I’ve got the Xenoblade titles already since I went on a spree buying highly recommended games. Excited to give them a shot, especially with the new release coming soon!
Awesome, I actually loved Bravely Default 2! I’ll definitely look into Triangle Strategy and see how it measures up. Thanks for the suggestions!
