I’m 50 and not really a gamer at heart, but I enjoy unwinding in the evenings with a game that’s straightforward and not too demanding. I’m particularly interested in singleplayer FPS games. I’ve played and enjoyed games like Titanfall 2, Far Cry 3 and 4, Crysis 1, and Half Life. I tried Cyberpunk 2077 but it’s a bit overwhelming for me. Any recommendations for games that are easy to get into and offer a laid-back experience without a huge learning curve?

If humor is your thing, give High on Life a shot. It’s a quirky and easy-going shooter that might be refreshing if you’re looking for something a bit offbeat. Have a look at some gameplay videos first to see if it’s your cup of tea.
Far Cry 5 is right up your alley if you liked its predecessors. It’s engaging but not overly complex and offers plenty of action without too much to manage. Additionally, old Call of Duty campaigns are simple and satisfying for short sessions.
I highly recommend checking out DOOM (2016) or DOOM Eternal if you’re in for some action-packed fun without much complexity. They’re not brain-bending in terms of mechanics and offer a pretty straightforward, exhilarating ride. Also, the Wolfenstein series like The New Order and The New Colossus could be a great fit for you.
Fallout 4 is worth a look. It’s easy to dive into, and you can focus on whatever aspects interest you—whether it’s the main story, side quests, or just exploring. The menus are fairly simple once you get the hang of them. It’s designed to be accessible and offers a lot of freedom.
For something more story-driven, I’d suggest the Metro series. The atmosphere is intense, but they are more linear and easier to digest than Cyberpunk, making them a great option. If you want something different, the Halo games are also quite beginner-friendly and are great fun.
I’d suggest looking into the Bioshock series or Dying Light for immersive and engaging singleplayer experiences. They’re not too stressful, and you might find them more relaxing compared to Cyberpunk.
