Hey everyone, I’m thinking about upgrading my current GPU, a 3070 Ti that I’ve had for a few years. It’s been great but lately it’s struggling with higher resolutions like 1440p at 300hz and 4k at 120hz. I’m also worried that the 8GB VRAM might not hold up as games become more demanding. I’m torn between the RX 9070 XT priced around £700 and the RTX 5070 Ti at about £840. Both look solid but I’m not sure which one is the better choice, especially considering price and performance.

One thing to consider is raytracing performance and upscaling tech like DLSS vs FSR. The RTX 5070 Ti tends to have stronger raytracing and arguably better upscaling quality. If you care a lot about those features and future-proofing them, it might be worth the extra money, since raster performance is quite close between the two.
Keep in mind the RX 9070 XT uses a lot more power. From what I’ve seen, it can draw over 340W under load which can lead to hotter temperatures and higher electric bills, especially if you live in a well-insulated home. I ended up going for a regular RX 9070 instead since it’s more power efficient and still offers great performance, plus I got it even cheaper. So think about your power and cooling situation before picking the XT model.
I’d go for the RX 9070 XT if you’re looking for better value overall. It generally performs better in most games and it’s quite a bit cheaper than the 5070 Ti. So if price is a concern, it’s a solid pick.
