In ‘The Devil’s Due’ quest, I find a Deathclaw egg and can choose to return it to its nest or give it to Wellingham in Diamond City. I’m unsure which option provides better rewards or impacts. What are the consequences of each choice?

Giving the egg to Wellingham in Diamond City will reward you with 200 caps and the recipe for Wellinghams Omelette. The recipe itself is mostly a fun, role-playing item, not particularly game-changing. If youre looking for easy caps and you prefer trading, this is the better choice.

Returning the egg: If you decide to return the egg to its nest in the Museum of Witchcraft, you’re gonna have to deal with a mama deathclaw. Once you place the egg in the nest, the Deathclaw becomes non-hostile and instead, you get a Deathclaw Gauntlet. This is a unique and pretty powerful melee weapon, especially if you’re going for a character build that focuses on melee attacks or you just like having strong close-range options.
Selling the egg: If you decide you could use some more caps or you’re interested in collecting recipes, you can sell the egg to Wellingham at the Diamond City Market. He’ll give you 200 caps (500 if you pass a speech check) and a recipe for the Poached Deathclaw Egg, which is a decent food item that restores health.
