The red drum pad on my Guitar Hero World Tour drums has stopped working for the PS3. It was working fine for a long time and then it started acting funny. Sometimes it would register double hits and it would go off randomly now and then breaking any streaks. Is this a software bug or is there something physically broken in the drums that i can repair?

This is a common issue with the original drum set for this game. The solder beneath the drum pad is very weak and will break quite easily if you use drum sticks that are too heavy or just play too heavily on the drum kit. They were clearly talking shit when they said that the drum kit could take the punishment from any pro drummer.
To fix this you will need to take the kit apart. Remove all the screws beneath the drum kit and detach the 2 cables that are attached to the red drum pad. Solder them back on and make sure they are sturdy. When the solder has dried use some super glue around the edges to make sure the solder doesn’t break away from the pad again. You can use a hot glue gun or some duct tape on top of the entire thing to try and keep the thing secure.
Adding the solder is normally enough, but it will eventually break again so anything you can do to help the solder stay attached to the main drum pad will be helpful.
