I’m diving into JRPGs with a lot of dialogue and voiced scenes to help me learn Japanese. I’ve been playing Shadow Hearts 2 on emudeck, totally immersing myself in the language. Now, I’m looking for recommendations for other JRPGs to enjoy after I finish it. I’m considering SMT Digital Devil Saga and the Xenosaga series, but I’m unsure if they’ll be too challenging in full Japanese. What are some good options, preferably older games that are easy to get into while still offering substantial dialogue?

You should definitely check out the Dragon Quest series. They have a lot of dialogue, and the language used is pretty accessible for learners.
What level are you in Japanese? It helps to find games that match your skills. I played DQIX and Octopath Traveler 2 in JP and found them engaging, plus they have enough dialogue for immersion.
A lot of the Atelier games are great too! They let you look at conversation logs and even have a feature that reads out the Japanese text multiple times. Super handy for learning.
Have you thought about starting with older titles like the original Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy? Their language is quite simple and a good stepping stone for immersion.
Funny enough, there’s a new JRPG dungeon crawler called Shujinkou that actually teaches you Japanese while you play! Might be worth a look.
