I started my first playthrough as a Ranger in the Vanguard Scout class, but I recently found a grimoire that lets me cast spells, and I’m really enjoying that aspect of gameplay. Now I’m starting to get bored with the Ranger skills since I’m also running around with a pistol, sword, and shield. Given that I’ve put a lot of time into my character, I’m wondering if it’s better to respec my points to focus more on magic or if I should just create a new character as an Arcane Scholar. I’m about 12 hours in and just reached the Emerald Stair, so should I keep going with my current class or restart?

Honestly, you don’t need to stress too much about the class you started with. I’ve played as a Wizard but leaned more into melee and ranged attacks. In my experience, the class mainly influences dialogue options rather than gameplay. So if you vibe with magic, just respec and go for it!
Starting classes mainly add flavor for dialogue choices. I was a Court Augur and even though it was fun to role-play a bit, my gameplay revolved around using two pistols at first, then switching to spellcasting later with a book for utility. So yeah, don’t worry too much about sticking to your starting class—make your character suit your playstyle!
Totally agree! At the end of the day, it’s all about how you enjoy playing.
From what I’ve seen, classes are flexible but be aware of resource management. I tried switching to magic at endgame, and the adra required can be a pain if you’re not set up right. Given you’re early on, you might be fine, but plan your skill investments carefully to avoid any pitfalls later!
Awesome! Appreciate the input.
