Hey everyone! I’m currently playing a Dance of Knives Rogue using the Maxroll build and I’m trying to wrap my head around the whole snapshotting mechanic. I get the gist of it, but I’m not quite sure which effects I’m supposed to be snapshotting. Is it only the Yax Rune? What about the concealment crit strike effects? Is there anything else I should be aware of? Also, is there a clear way to know when the snapshot wears off besides just seeing a drop in damage? I’m on Xbox if that helps. Thanks in advance for any insights!

You’re snapshotting effects like guaranteed critical hits and unstoppable, and those will stick through your whole channel of Dance of Knives. Check the order in the Maxroll build guide—it really helps! If you’re using Shroud body armor, sticking with orange armor might be a good idea while you’re getting used to it. Getting this right can make a huge difference in your damage output! I actually switched to Rain of Arrows recently and I’m really enjoying it, though snapshot builds are a bit tricky for me.
The Maxroll guide’s FAQ section explains it pretty well. Once you switch to a build that focuses on shadow clone damage, it becomes less about snapshotting, as you’ll be looping through the rotation once your Shadow Clone comes off cooldown (around every 10 seconds). You might want to check that out!
Thanks! I’ve heard of a no snapshot build—you talking about that? I think it needs purple shroud armor? I’m really trying to drop my clone cooldown since it boosts my damage significantly.
Thanks! I’m following that order too, and I can definitely tell the difference between putting out no damage and tons of damage. Still rocking orange armor for now. I might give Rain of Arrows a shot next!
