I just got back home from vacation, turned on my PS4, and got this annoying notification saying it can’t connect to the internet. I’ve restarted the console several times, and my WiFi works fine on my phone and TV, so it’s definitely an issue with the PS4. The exact error message I see is:
“A DNS server cannot be used. A DNS server is not set. If you selected [Manual] under [IP Address Settings] or [DNS Settings] when you set the Internet connection for the PS4, verify that Primary DNS and Secondary DNS are set correctly. In other cases, the system might not have obtained an IP address yet. (NW-31246-6)”
This is the first time I’ve faced this issue after having the console for over 5 years, and I’m completely stumped on what to do!

Try adding these DNS addresses: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Those are Google’s DNS servers and they might help your PS4 connect better.
Have you considered hardwiring your PS4 directly to the router? It can sometimes give a more stable connection than WiFi.
Can you break that down for me? I’m not really sure how to do that!

What does that even mean? Sorry if I’m slow on this.
