Hey everyone, I’m in a bit of a bind and need some advice. I’ve been facing this annoying issue for almost two years now with my gaming setup. I have an NVIDIA 4070 Ti graphics card and an Intel i7-13700K CPU that’s water-cooled. The problem is that my games keep crashing randomly, usually around 1 to 5 times a day. I’ve made sure to update all my drivers and BIOS, and even did a full reinstallation of Windows. My case fans aren’t the best, but the crashes still occur even when I take the side panel off. I suspect it might be a heat issue, but wouldn’t that typically cause the PC to shut down completely? Any insight would be appreciated!

It sounds like it might be linked to some Intel instability issues with your CPU. A lot of users with similar setups have reported random crashes, which could point to that. Since you mentioned this has been happening for a while, it might be worth looking into the automatic overclocking. If it’s hitting 5.3 GHz, it could be causing some instability during gaming sessions.
I’m curious though—if it is a heat issue, wouldn’t it just shut the PC off instead?
If your case fans are underperforming, it might be creating airflow problems. Ideally, you want the airflow to come in from the front and out through the back and top of your case. Even when the side and front panels are off, poor airflow can lead to heat buildup. Make sure that your AIO cooler is set up to maximize its cooling efficiency too!
I’ve got an AIO pulling air from the top, but that might not be enough with my case fans struggling. I’ll have to check how I can improve that.
Totally agree! Good airflow is key, especially if the case fans aren’t doing their job.
Yeah, I’ve had my share of issues since building my rig too. It’d be good to monitor those clock speeds closely to see if they spike during crashes.
