Hey everyone! I’ve been dipping in and out of playing Classic WoW since 2019, but with the changes that Cataclysm and the upcoming MoP expansion are bringing, I’m noticing the game feels a lot more like retail. I’ve been considering making that jump to retail since it offers way more content than Classic, but I’m really struggling with how to get started! I’ve got a level 75 enhancement shaman, but the rotation seems so complicated (I tried looking it up on icy veins), and I’m getting annihilated by mobs. I’m looking for some tips on a class or spec that has a simpler rotation but is still engaging, and I’d also love some advice on where to gear up for PvP when I hit level 80. I’m open to playing as a Tank, Healer, or DPS, and I haven’t installed any addons yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :)

I think you’re facing a gear issue right now. At level 75, it’s common to feel underpowered because your gear isn’t keeping up as you level. Did you feel okay until around level 70? If so, then yeah, it’s all about your gear—stick with it, and you’ll improve!
Retail is significantly different from Classic. There’s a much higher focus on rotations and DPS calculations. If you can hold off for a bit, Blizzard is introducing a feature that simplifies rotations to basically one button! If you’re under level 80, though, don’t stress too much about mastering your rotation just yet. Focus more on keeping your gear updated. The leveling process in retail can leave you a bit undergeared, so just keep spamming your spells and ensure your gear matches your level.
Are you trying the totemic playstyle with your Shaman? That can be complex. If you haven’t yet, go with Stormbringer; it mainly revolves around using Stormstrike and Tempest. For a simpler but still fun class, I definitely recommend a Retribution Paladin. It’s very forgiving and has some solid options for keeping yourself alive in the open world, even if you might find it less engaging.
Sounds good! Once you hit level 80, the usual route is to run normal dungeons, then heroic dungeons, and finally dive into raids for gearing.
I’ve been playing since vanilla and main a BM Hunter. Their rotation is pretty easy to master, and I’ve noticed Icy Veins has good guides, including an ‘easy mode’ for starting players. Plus, with a couple of pets at your side, you’ll have an easier time managing aggro and dealing damage. Taming rare pets can be a fun grind too!
Yeah, Paladins really add a lot to group dynamics with abilities like Lay on Hands and Blessing of Protection. They’re super helpful in tough fights!
