I’ve been trying to get the hang of the blunder sniper in the game, but I keep struggling to secure kills. Most tutorials I find are either outdated or just a joke. What are some effective tips or strategies for learning and improving my blunder sniper skills? Thanks a ton in advance!

First off, practice your shots! When guarding a ladder with your blunderbuss, wait until your opponent finishes their ladder animation before firing, or consider using a blunderbomb to knock them off. Beyond that, make sure to bunny hop and use the edges of the ship to your advantage. Move unpredictably by sprinting left and right to dodge incoming shots. After your opponent misses, turn around and take your shot. If you’re up against sword players, knock them back with your blunderbuss and finish with your EOR. Oh, and don’t forget to enable server registered hit markers in the settings—this can really help you confirm your shots are hitting!
The effectiveness of double gunning really depends on the size of the ship! As a sword fighter, I usually can handle sloop battles without too much trouble, but on a galleon, double gunning becomes essential to winning any boarding fights. Keep that in mind when you’re planning your approach!
When you’re just starting out, focus on the basics rather than trying complex moves like delay swapping. Get comfortable shooting, swapping, and shooting again. Using sprint cancel on your second shot is a great way to speed up your reloads if you miss. Take your time with aiming, and try to find moments where you have a clear angle to take a shot. Just a heads up, using the blunder can feel unreliable at times because of hit registration issues; I’ve actually switched to pistol sniping these days as my go-to.
Check out Sponge’s delay swap tutorial! They have some amazing videos on PvP strategies, and they even review match gameplay to give helpful tips. You might find something useful there!
1. For close-range fights, don’t hard scope. Just hold the scope button and you’ll shoot straight, so quick-scoping is best. Always aim without relying on the crosshair and shoot a bit before you see the scope.
2. Delay swapping is cool but focus on getting your accuracy down first.
3. Always switch weapons after firing! This starts your reload faster. If you plan on using the same weapon again, switch to another weapon and then back.
4. Movement is super key! Strafe more and jump less to be harder to hit.
5. When you’re down to one bullet and your opponent has more, try eating fruit beforehand to mitigate that. You’ll waste their ammo while loading up on health—just learn the timing!
Great call! Also, don’t forget to enable the audio assistance feature for aiming—it gives you sound cues when you’re getting close to an enemy and when you’re right on target. It really enhances the aiming experience!
