I’m looking to create an underwater item sorter using water tubes, as I don’t want a huge machine visible on the surface. The idea is to connect hoppers to this system to store items in chests on the surface. However, I’ve never built an item sorter, not even a simple one, and I’m not sure where to start. If anyone has a tutorial or ideas that fit this concept, I’d really appreciate your help. By the way, I’m playing on Bedrock.

Building an item sorter underwater with all those connections can be a real challenge! I just built one that sorts everything, and I ended up burying most of it too. I went without water tubes since hoppers are usually easier to manage. If you’re really set on using water, just know you might face some serious logistical issues with transporting all those items to the surface, especially for around 700 different items. Just weigh the effort versus the result before diving in!
Sounds like a cool project! For underwater item sorters, you’ll want to consider how items will be transported. Using hoppers can be tricky underwater, but it’s doable if you create a solid system that can hold all the items without flooding. I suggest checking out some YouTube tutorials that focus on underwater builds; even if they aren’t perfect, they might give you some useful ideas. Also, think about how each sorter will work; it could be better to build several smaller ones rather than one massive setup.
Honestly, asking if you really want to go through the hassle of building something that complex underwater is fair. It’s possible, but preparing to sort a vast number of items means a lot of sorters and transport mechanisms. You could simplify your design by building some parts above water or using water elevators. It’s all about what fits your vision and how much you’re willing to manage in the end!
If you’re determined to go forward, it’s easier to create a few small item sorters instead of one giant one. I tried the ‘connect everything’ method and it got chaotic. Depending on what items you want sorted, there are tutorials out there that might fit your needs—just bear in mind not all work great on Bedrock; it can be a bit different from Java!
