I’m diving into Final Fantasy XIII for the first time and I’m at the end game, but I think I’ve really messed things up. I’ve completed almost all the Ci’eth Stones except for 63 and 64, but I haven’t managed to snag a single traphezohedron. Now I’ve found out that the big turtles are all these long gui and small gui types, and I don’t feel strong enough to take them on. Can anyone give me realistic suggestions for equipment, which characters I should focus on, or better farming spots? Or did I just ruin my chances? I’ve been looking through various suggestions, but they all seem to assume I have fully leveled weapons or at least some upgraded accessories. Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

If you’re starting out, upgrading Sazh’s strongest weapon to max rank 2 can really help. Summon to take out its legs, apply your buffs and debuffs, and then stagger it with blitz before it wakes up. Alternatively, using Vanille’s instant death can work, but it’s less reliable. Once you get your first traphezohedron, give it to Fang to help her take them down more effectively without needing summons!
Those enemies can be tricky. A good strategy is to hit them with Deshell first, then spam Death with Vanille to take them down. Sazh has a blitz strategy that works too, but it hinges a lot on your gear.
I think I’m facing the stronger blue ones, and I remember Death doesn’t work on them anymore.
You can farm the one in Eden for traphezohedrons. It’s definitely doable if you’ve been working on your strategy!
I didn’t realize they would still be in Eden! Thank you so much!
There’s another adamantoise in the middle of the Steppe, aside from the one in Eden. Exploring that area could help you out!
Can you tell the difference between the types before attacking? Thanks!
Aren’t the blue ones immune to Death?
