I’m playing a game and have a couple of rules that need clarification. First, when a unit has multiple character models attached and all the bodyguard models are removed, can the remaining attack allocations go to one character until they’re down, or do they get allocated one at a time until the first character is dead? And secondly, regarding the Techmarine’s ability: if I target a vehicle that is at full wounds, can I still use the +1 to hit benefit, or does the vehicle need to have lost wounds to trigger this? I’d appreciate citations so I can review the rules with my opponent and help other players out. Thanks a ton!

For your first question, once the bodyguard unit is gone, you allocate the wounds to the first character until they’re dead. After they go down, any leftover wounds get passed to the next character. Just remember, it’s all simultaneous until the attacking sequence wraps up. You can check out the Core Rules Update, page 9, where it talks about leaders and unit separation for clarity on this.
To summarize: 1) wounds go to the first character until they die, then pass to the next one. You can line that up with the rules on leaders in the core book. 2) As for the Techmarine, the +1 to hit can still apply even when the vehicle is at full health. The wording doesn’t restrict it to wounded vehicles. Solid stuff, good luck with your games!
Thanks for the rule references!
Yep, you can totally use the Techmarine’s ability on a vehicle even if it has full wounds! The +1 to hit isn’t conditional on the vehicle needing to heal, so go ahead and keep targeting it. The rule specifically says you can regain up to D3 wounds, but even if it’s at max health, the ability still applies. Just remember, it’s ‘up to D3’, so it includes the option to heal none, which is why it works regardless of current wounds.
Thanks for clarifying that!
