I’ve been having a weird issue with my PS5 where it only lets me access the home screen. I can’t do anything in any apps or games, except for taking screenshots and going back to the home menu using the PS button. Has anyone encountered this before? What can I do to fix it?

One thing you can try is rebuilding the database and clearing the system cache through recovery mode. If that doesn’t resolve the issue, you might need to reinstall the system software. It’s a bit of a hassle, but sometimes it’s the only way to get things back on track.
Just a heads up, if you go for the system software reinstall, it’s going to erase all the data on your console. Make sure you back up your save data to the cloud before you do anything. Good luck with it!
Thx again I’m glad you said that I would not have checked otherwise.
To get into recovery mode, turn off your PS5 completely first. Then connect your controller with a USB cable. Hold the power button until you hear a second beep, then release it. Press the PS button, and a menu should pop up. Start with the rebuild database option—your console will restart. If that doesn’t work, go through the same steps to select reinstall system software.
It might also be worth checking your video settings. Sometimes, if you set a resolution that your screen can’t handle, it can cause issues like this. Try restoring all video settings to default or automatic and see if that helps.
