Hey everyone! I recently installed a new CPU in my PC and when I tried to power it on, nothing happened. When I remove the CPU from the motherboard, the system runs fine but I’m not sure why it won’t start with the CPU in place. Any help would be appreciated!

It sounds like there may be a mix-up in your terminology. Are you sure you meant CPU and not GPU? If the PC powers on without the CPU, that’s a little confusing since it usually won’t boot without one attached. Can you clarify your setup?
Honestly, I think you should’ve gotten some help before diving into this. If you’ve broken a pin, you can sometimes fix it by gently straightening it with a credit card, but be careful. If more than one is bent, it might be time to consider a replacement or professional help.
If your system works when the CPU is out, the issue could be something as simple as a bent pin on the CPU. If you think that might be the case, check closely. Bent pins can prevent the CPU from making proper contact with the motherboard and cause the whole system to fail to boot.
It might not be the CPU itself but your installation. Make sure you have a cooler installed properly. If you just slapped the parts together without watching some guides, it could lead to issues like this. I’d highly recommend checking out some YouTube videos on proper PC building to avoid problems next time!

No, I definitely mean the CPU. It just won’t start when it’s installed.
