Hey everyone, I’ve got a Crucial 4TB 705 M.2 drive that’s been heating up quite a bit. I’ve noticed that it never really exceeds 10k MB/s on the read speeds and around 3k MB/s for writes, which seems off. I think my third-party heatsink might not be cutting it. Does anyone have good recommendations to keep it cool? Thanks!

Have you thought about using a small fan directed at it? Sometimes just a little airflow can make a huge difference in cooling.
You definitely want to check what heatsink you’re using. Also, did you use a thermal pad? That could help with heat transfer between the drive and the heatsink.
Honestly, even if you’re not pushing it hard with large file transfers, it’s still concerning that it’s underperforming because of heat. You need a solution regardless of usage to keep it efficient.
First off, what’s the temperature your SSD is hitting? Some heatsinks just don’t make the cut. And what’s the airflow like around it? Sometimes just adjusting that can help a lot.
The SSD hits mid 50°C, but can get up to 80°C during benchmarks. I’ve got decent airflow around it though.
