I just wrapped up my first playthrough of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 after the latest update and got the neutral ending. I didn’t commit any serious crimes and even tried to repent, but it still felt off. After Ma accused Henry of being a bandit, my character justified his actions by saying he had no choice because he was poor. I’ve seen that other players had a chance to apologize in similar situations, but I didn’t get that dialogue option at all! Could it be that there’s a limit on how much stealing is too much for them to allow an apology? Is this a potential bug from the new patch? For more context, here’s what I did during my playthrough: I honorably killed Istvan, saved Semine and Maleshov, got revenge on Brabant but spared Markvart, saved Samuel, and my total stolen value was 70k with 60 civilians killed. I chose to repent and value saving innocents, and I had ending scenarios of Adventurer/Settle Down. My Henry has really tried to be a good character, and I feel frustrated that he can’t express remorse when so many others could!

From what I gather, the endings depend on choices. Apologizing helps towards a better ending, while not doing so leads to the neutral or bad endings. So yeah, probably an issue from the update since I used to always get the option to say sorry for theft.
Pre-update, if you’d gotten branded, that would have blocked the apology. But it sounds like you hadn’t, so this really might be a bug or a change they made with the latest patch.
It could be that the new patch tweaked how endings work! It’s kind of strange since in the past you could just say ‘sorry’ and get a better outcome. Maybe we’ll see more players chime in with their experiences soon.
To get the good ending with your choices, you had to actually repent for your banditry and select ‘Settle Down’. If the option didn’t come up for you, it seems like it’s not working as intended.
That’s exactly my point! The option to repent for my banditry never appeared. After the accusation from Ma, Henry just jumped to justifying his theft without my input, which felt so off.
But it’s frustrating because I wish I had completed it just a day earlier when things might have been different!
