I bought the game Inscryption in summer 2023 during a sale for around five pounds. Recently, the game started telling me I can’t play it without a Game Pass subscription. I’ve reached out to support, but all I get are repetitive questions like “Did you buy it from a different account?” or “Did a friend buy it and share it with you?” which is not true. I’ve only ever purchased games on my own Xbox account. What’s weird is the game has disappeared from my purchase history, and it’s not showing up on any other accounts I’ve shared my Xbox with either. This was one of my favorite games and I don’t have the money to repurchase it, especially after this glitch. What can I do to fix this?

Honestly, if support keeps asking you the same questions and you’ve ruled out alternate accounts or game sharing, it’s possible there’s some kind of bug or mistake on their end. Sometimes games can disappear from the purchase history due to system errors. Unfortunately, if they’re not willing to reinstate it, you might have to consider that it’s a lost purchase and ask if they can credit your account or offer a discount. Also, just double-check if you ever played the game through Game Pass by chance, as that might confuse the system, but since you said the game wasn’t on Game Pass when you played it, that’s less likely.
From experience, if the store or Xbox says you don’t own it, then you probably aren’t logged into the same account that bought it. Or maybe it was played on Game Pass and you just thought you bought it. But since you’re sure that’s not the case and you bought it during a sale with your account, it sounds like a system error. Sadly, without support helping, your options might be limited besides buying it again or waiting if they ever fix account bugs like this.
Have you checked your email for any purchase confirmation from when you bought the game? Sometimes having proof like that can help when dealing with support. If you have something like a receipt or payment record, it might make the process smoother. Just keep being polite with support; they deal with tons of requests and can sometimes help if you stay calm and provide proof.
Unfortunately, I can’t find any email confirmation. I think I may have deleted it a long time ago. But I do have records of my playtime and achievements in the game, and I can confirm that no one else on my shared Xbox ever owned it. I’ve been polite with support and understand their job, but I still feel stuck since their system seems to have removed the game from my account without explanation.
