I purchased Inscryption around summer 2023 during a sale for about five pounds. Recently, when I try to play, it says I need a Game Pass subscription to access the game. I’ve contacted Xbox support multiple times, but they keep asking if I bought the game on another account or if a friend owns it on their account, which I never have. Strangely, the game has disappeared from my purchase history, and I’m certain it’s not linked to any account that shares my Xbox. Inscryption is one of my favorite games, and I don’t want to pay again if this is some kind of system glitch. What should I do to get my access back?

Since the game disappeared from your purchase history, it sounds like a backend error on Xbox’s side. It’s rare, but sometimes purchases get unlinked or hidden due to account syncing issues or system bugs. The fact that you have gameplay history tied to the game is a strong sign you owned it. I’d recommend trying to provide that info in a support appeal, maybe on social media support channels if normal routes aren’t helping. Also, keep screenshots or evidence of your profile showing the achievements and time played to make your case stronger.
Have you checked for any email confirmations or purchase receipts from when you bought the game? Sometimes having proof of purchase helps when dealing with support, especially if your purchase history is acting up. Be polite and stick to the facts when communicating—explain honestly what happened and what you’ve checked so far. If you don’t have the email, that’s okay, but mention your gameplay achievements and any other evidence you have to back up that you’ve owned the game. Good luck!
Honestly, if support is just repeating the same questions, the problem is likely that you’re not logged into the account that actually owns the license for the game. Either that or you never fully purchased it outside of Game Pass, maybe you played it through a trial or a deal tied to Game Pass without realizing it. Also, I’m not sure Inscryption even has physical discs, but if it did and you bought a disc, that could change things. Since none of that sounds like your case, it might be a glitch with your account or Xbox services. You might want to escalate the issue, ask to talk to a higher-level support rep, or check Xbox forums to see if others had the same problem recently.
Unfortunately, I can’t find any email confirmation; I must have deleted it years ago. But I have records of my playtime and achievements, and there’s no sign of anyone else owning it on my Xbox. I haven’t been rude to support either since I know how tough their job can be. Still super frustrated because the system just removed my game without reason.
