Hey everyone! I currently have an RTX 3060 Ti paired with an i5 12600k and 32GB of RAM. I’m considering upgrading from the 3060 Ti but I’m really torn on which GPU to choose due to crazy prices in my area, even for used ones. Right now, I’m leaning toward either a 5060 Ti or an AMD RX 9070 since they fit my budget. I would love to get a 4070, but even the used prices are just outrageous. I’m primarily into playing CS2 and Battlefront 2, which aren’t super demanding graphically, but in CS2 I’m getting about 170 FPS on lowest settings, which isn’t really cutting it for me. I want something that will future-proof my PC and be ready for more graphics-heavy games. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot!

For online games, your CPU can make a bigger difference than the GPU, especially at 1080p with lower settings. You might think about selling your i5 12600k and upgrading to a 7800X3D. After that, you can offload the 3060 Ti and look at the 5070 or 9070, which are similar in performance.
If you’re planning to ‘future-proof’ your setup, consider going for the AM5 platform. For your type of games, a strong CPU is generally more beneficial than an upgrade in GPU. The 7800X3D or 9800X3D are great options, and although 12 GB VRAM is decent, aiming for a GPU with at least 16 GB is ideal. If you’re sticking to mid-range, look for something like the RX 9060 XT or even Intel Arc B580; both should be more budget-friendly and solid alternatives. I would keep the 5060 Ti as a last resort if that’s all within reach.
I think the 5070 at around $600 is a solid choice. The 12 GB of VRAM isn’t ideal, but it can handle most games pretty well. As for the RX 9070, it’s a good pick too, but finding one at $600 is tough these days. A buddy of mine just found a 9070 in an unopened box for $500; he’s considering it, but there are concerns about AMD’s driver support.
Sounds like a smart move! Just be cautious about the AMD driver issues. Definitely worth a thought!
Good suggestion! That would definitely boost your overall gaming experience.
