Hey all! I’m on the hunt for some reviews of Daggerheart 1.0, but I want to make sure they come from people who have actually played the game and not just skimmed through the rules or source materials. It seems like a lot of the content out there leans towards clickbait or is overly influenced by hardcore fans of Critical Role, which is cool, but I’m really interested in a variety of perspectives. I don’t want to start any debates about the legitimacy of reviews, but I genuinely value insights from those who have experienced the game firsthand. I’m just curious if it’s too early to find solid reviews or if some are already popping up. Thanks a ton!

Check out this Reddit link that shows a DnD veteran’s take on Daggerheart combat. It might give you some insight based on actual gameplay: https://www.reddit.com/r/daggerheart/s/9N3Vjj8pRZ.
I think we need to wait a bit longer for real in-depth reviews. I’m reading the materials but not sure about playing it soon.
Honestly, it’s pretty early for comprehensive reviews. With content creators pushing a lot of content out, it’s hard to determine who’s delving deep into the game versus just skimming the surface.
I found a few reviews from players who actually dove into the gameplay. Check out these videos: https://youtu.be/edVAk7dKaUg, https://youtu.be/1QSLq13M1Oc, and https://youtu.be/WlamiIre5aQ. It’s a shame you’ve had a hard time finding them! I’ve got to say, play-reviews are usually way more valuable. Seth Skorkowsky and Quinn’s Quest do a fantastic job when they play through games.
Thanks for the links! It’s true, it can be tough to sift through YouTube, especially with all the noise surrounding the game right now.
Honestly, it might be too soon for in-depth reviews since the game hasn’t been out long enough for many people to run full campaigns. The buzz has mostly been around the earlier playtests. If you’re patient, I reckon true opinions will start filling the gap in a month or so after more people have had the chance to play.
Good point! I think we might need to wait a while until everyone has had a chance to really dig into it, especially after the upcoming stock restocks.
In general, finding unbiased reviews is a struggle. I suggest looking at both positive and negative reviews, considering the reasoning behind them, and making your own judgment. Don’t just focus on the scores or final thoughts, dig into the details.
I completely agree! Try to find a reviewer whose opinions align with yours; it might help narrow down the noise.
It’s tricky! Given how new Daggerheart is, finding substantial reviews may still take a bit more time.
There’s also a great review from Pointy Hat discussing his campaign experience, highlighting how the mechanics brought an emotional depth to the story compared to other games. You should check that out too!
