I’m on a quest to find Unreal Engine 4 or 5 games that offer the same seamless experience as the Half-Life series. I’m interested in any genre—shooter, horror, adventure, puzzle, etc.—as long as they stick to the Half-Life model. This means no forced camera shifts, no cutscenes, and straightforward interactions without complicated inventory or overly complex environments.
For example, a game can’t have moments where the action pauses for a mini-cutscene when you do simple tasks like opening doors. A game that doesn’t meet these criteria would be Atomic Heart—too many camera cuts for my liking. I’m really keen on discovering games that allow me to control the pace and movement, even during storytelling segments. Any suggestions?

I immediately thought of Prey when I read your question. It’s got a good flow and you can explore at your own pace, although it’s not on UE4/5 unfortunately.
You should definitely check out Vladik Brutal! It’s heavily inspired by Half-Life and the gameplay just gets better as you progress. Plus, it’s built on UE4 and has some stunning visuals—you won’t be disappointed!
Thanks for the heads-up! I hadn’t heard of this one and it’s super affordable at just €8 on Steam. Totally gonna grab it!
The only thing that comes to mind is Stalker 2, but honestly, I wasn’t impressed by it—it feels a bit lacking, thanks to UE5. Just my two cents, though!
I didn’t downvote you or anything, just wondering why you think it’s garbage? I’ve heard some decent things about it.
Yeah, but both Prey games are actually not built on Epic’s engines, which is a bummer!
