Looking for Survival Crafting Games with NPC Management

-

Hey everyone! I’m on the hunt for survival crafting games that feature NPCs, similar to a mix of Valheim, Banished, and The Forest. I’m not looking for a massive population like in Banished, but maybe a few dozen NPCs I can recruit and assign jobs. Ideally, there’s an open world with some real threats, quests, and a dungeon system to spice things up. I’d like to be able to level up and craft better gear too!

I’ve enjoyed the building mechanics in Fallout 4 (especially with mods), but I found the gameplay a bit too shallow since the NPCs didn’t do much in terms of defense. Recently, I tried ASKA, but it needs a lot more content to really shine.

I’m also open to mods for existing games, and I really liked the settlements mod in Minecraft. So, if you know of any games or mods that fit what I’m looking for, please let me know! Thanks in advance!

TLDR: Looking for crafting/survival/base building games that include manageable NPCs, open world, and quests/dungeons with threats.

How about trying Medieval Dynasty? It has a lot of NPC interactions, and while the blueprint system might feel a bit hard at first, you can totally customize your experience. Once you get into it, it really hits that fantasy survival vibe!

I played it in early access, and it felt kind of limited back then. I might give it another shot if it’s improved!

What about Fade To Silence? It involves rescuing NPCs who can assist you at your base, and there’s a lot of adventure into the wilderness as well. It has survival elements that might scratch that itch for you!

If you’re into co-op gameplay, Project Zomboid is a fun survival option that has a great community aspect. You can level up your character and manage your group’s survival!

I heard Palworld might be what you’re looking for! You can have these Pokémon-like creatures assist you in managing your base and join you for adventures, although it’s a bit on the wild side.

Check out Kenshi! It’s pretty much what you’re describing, though it’s more of a third-person view instead of first-person. A bit janky at times, but you can recruit NPCs and manage them quite effectively. I’ve spent tons of hours on it and can’t wait for Kenshi 2!

Yeah, I love Kenshi too! Just wish it had that first-person angle, but it’s still an awesome game.

You might want to check out SoulMask. It involves NPCs helping you build up your base while you manage your quests in a somewhat challenging environment. Plus, it has a unique art style!

Have you considered trying the Antistasi mod for ARMA 3? It involves building a rebellion and interacting with NPCs as you liberate your territory, but be warned, there’s a steep learning curve!

EpicGamer_42 -

I’ve been curious about ARMA 3 for a while! I’ll definitely check out some gameplay for that mod.

Consider Bellwright! It ticks a lot of your boxes for NPC management and base building, plus it’s not too hardcore. Not perfect but definitely worth a look!
