Looking for RPG Recommendations for Switch - Help Me Out!

-

Hey everyone! I’m currently stuck in a gaming rut and in search of some RPG recommendations for the Switch or Switch 2. I discovered Monster Sanctuary through this sub and it quickly became one of my favorites. I’ve recently played some amazing games and I’d love suggestions that align with my preferences. I usually enjoy pixel art, solid storytelling, engaging but not overly lengthy gameplay, great turn-based battle systems, and fairly linear progression (I’m not too keen on open worlds). I’m considering games like Roots of Pasha, Chained Echoes, and Bloomtown, but I’m open to any recommendations. Here’s a little more about my gaming history: I’ve really liked games such as Monster Sanctuary, Octopath Traveler 2, Unicorn Overlord, Sea of Stars, and Child of Light. I’ve found some games okay like Star Ocean: Second Story R, Hades, and Breath of the Wild, but there are also some I just didn’t click with like Bastion and Dark Deity. Any suggestions?

You should definitely give Chained Echoes a try! It fits your preferences perfectly – great turn-based combat, a solid story, and the pixel art is fantastic. I can’t recommend it enough!

Have you ever played Grandia? It checks most of your boxes, although the remaster has some blurry graphics. Still, it’s a classic turn-based gem that might just be what you need!

Absolutely try out Suikoden I & II HD Remaster or even the Lunar Remastered Collection. They have great stories and fun battle systems, perfect for your taste!

If you haven’t tried it yet, Dragon Quest XI is a solid RPG! However, just a heads up, it can be a bit lengthy. Still, it has some of the best turn-based combat around!

I appreciate the suggestion, but I think I might pass on that one since I prefer shorter games.

If you enjoyed Unicorn Overlord, I’d suggest checking out the Fire Emblem series, especially the pixel art games. They really fit your style! Earthbound is also a classic worth playing.

Thanks for the tips! I’ve heard good things about Fire Emblem and Earthbound, will definitely consider them!
