Hey everyone! I’m on the hunt for more puzzle games that have those Metroidvania elements similar to The Witness. You know, where solving puzzles leads you to unlock new areas and challenges as you gain knowledge and tools. The Witness is in my top 5 all-time favorites, but I haven’t come across many other games that give me the same thrill.
Here are a few titles I’ve enjoyed that feel somewhat alike: Antichamber, Isles of Sea And Sky, and La Mulana. However, often I get recommended titles that are more linear, like The Talos Principle, Manifold Garden, or Portal 2. While I appreciate those, I really prefer the exploration, backtracking, and progression aspects. I’ve also played Myst ages ago, but I don’t remember much—should I give it another shot in 2025?
Also, I’ve tried The Outer Wilds but it just didn’t click for me, even though I feel it should have. Any recommendations would be awesome!

You should definitely check out Blue Prince! It’s got that non-linear approach and plenty of exploration, so it might just hit the spot for you.
I agree, this is the masterpiece you’re looking for!
Animal Well looks pretty interesting! You might like it as it has that puzzle exploration vibe.
Thank you, it looks interesting!
You might want to try Blue Prince for something newer, or check out Endless Night for an upcoming metroidvania that sounds pretty original based on its Steam description. It seems like something right up your alley if you loved The Witness!
Have you tried Tunic? It has a great blend of exploration and puzzle-solving that could fit your tastes.
Nice one, I’ll check it out!
Came here to suggest this too! Fantastic game and definitely far from being linear.
