I’m really looking forward to Bungie’s upcoming Marathon release, but I need some good extraction-style games to keep myself busy until then. I’ve already spent tons of hours on Hunt: Showdown, Witchfire, and Dark and Darker, but right now those games aren’t in the best state for me to enjoy. I’m mostly into FPS games but I’m open to other genres too. Are there any hidden gem extraction games out there that I might have missed?

You might want to check out Pacific Drive. It’s a different take on extraction where you explore maps and loot while avoiding dangerous anomalies that can wreck your car. You have a limited time to escape a storm and get back to your garage, where you can use the loot to upgrade your station wagon and your garage itself. Plus, your car can develop quirks—like mine always honked when I hit the brakes! You can even remove those quirks if you want. It’s a fresh mix of exploration and survival with a cool car upgrade system.
You might want to try Deep Rock Galactic. It’s a lighthearted co-op FPS with solid gameplay where you mine and extract resources with your team. It’s not quite a traditional extraction game though, since you have persistent classes and gear rather than losing everything if you die. To me, that risk versus reward loop is the real heart of extraction games, so while DRG is awesome fun, it’s a bit different from games like Tarkov or Hunt.
If you’re okay with a singleplayer experience, Zero Sievert is a great indie extraction game inspired by Tarkov and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. It lets you customize tons of stuff in your save file, and I had a blast playing it. Definitely a neat alternative if you want a solo challenge with that classic extraction vibe.
Honestly, Escape from Tarkov is still considered the go-to FPS extraction game, even with its flaws. If you haven’t dived into it yet, it’s definitely worth trying out for that hardcore, tense experience that defines the genre. Other games similar to that style include Delta Force, Grey Zone Warfare, and Arena Breakout, if you want to explore a few different settings and mechanics.
If you like group-focused games, Last Oasis and Void Crew are worth a look. Also, Arena Breakout Infinite (not the mobile version) is free, pretty fun, and I haven’t seen hackers in all my 50+ hours playing it. If you want something a bit different, Outpost Infinity Siege mixes RTS, tower defense, and extraction elements—though it can be buggy and repetitive, the base building adds a cool twist.
