Looking for Great Monster Books for Narrative RPGs

-

I’m diving into narrative-focused RPGs like Ironsworn and Fate, where stats aren’t everything, and I’m on the hunt for some inspiring monster books to enhance my DM experience. Currently, I’m using Monster Overhaul and the Dragonbane Bestiary, but I’m eager for more recommendations. What monster books do you love to use for inspiration?

‘Ekphrastic Beasts’ is another fantastic choice if you’re into nightmare-inducing monsters. It’s a great read before bedtime! But maybe read it earlier in the day if you’re easily spooked!

Totally agree! I love reading through monster books before bed, but sometimes it keeps me awake, haha!

If you’re looking for something different, definitely check out ‘Circle of Hands.’ The monsters there have some really evocative takes on classic concepts that can really add depth to your storytelling.

Don’t miss out on ‘GUMSHOE’s Book of Unremitting Horror.’ It’s packed with some truly unique and chilling creatures that can spark some excellent ideas for your sessions.
