I’m on the hunt for a video game that offers a deeply engaging story, similar to what I’ve experienced with the A Plague Tale series or Enderal. I’m really not into the whole open-world or combat aspects of gaming. Honestly, I’m more interested in a linear experience, though I’m open to suggestions. I don’t have a comprehensive list of everything I’ve played, so feel free to recommend anything. I appreciate any help I can get!

For something a little different, Planescape Torment is a classic, along with the Legacy of Kain series. They’ll definitely engage you with their narratives! Metal Gear Solid series is also a must-play for deep storytelling.
You could also try Terranigma or Valkyrie Profile—both have some of my favorite stories in gaming! Also, if you’re into crime dramas, check out Heavy Rain. Night in the Woods and Goodbye Volcano High are great for simpler, emotional stories.
You should definitely check out Baldur’s Gate 3 or The Witcher 3 for some solid narratives. Also, I’ve heard great things about Disco Elysium and What Remains of Edith Finch. If you’re open to visual novels, those often have killer stories too! I loved My Time at Sandrock—made me cry a few times!
I tried a bunch from your list, and while I liked GOG, the others had some issues for me. I’ve been eyeing Rogue Trader and Disco Elysium, though. I can’t do horror games like Silent Hill, so that’s a no for me!
If you’re okay with AA titles, you should give Vampyr, Death Stranding, or Spiritfarer a shot. They all have unique storytelling. You might find something you like in those!
I did try Vampyr, but it didn’t hold my interest. I’ll look into Spiritfarer though, thanks!
I want to get into MGS, but I’m a bit hesitant to start with older titles, and I’d love to check out I Have No Mouth too.
