I recently finished my yearly Terminator marathon and it’s got me craving some gaming where I can step into the role of a machine overlord taking over the world. I’ve always found myself rooting for the bad guys in movies, like cheering for the Terminator in its first film, and I love the unpredictability in stories where heroes don’t always win. After playing Detroit: Become Human multiple times and loving its branching choices and endings, I’m on the hunt for similar experiences. I came across Warfactory, which sounds like a dream with its war machinery and robot armies, but sadly, it hasn’t come out yet. So, if you know of any games where you could play as an unfriendly AI or robot, I’d appreciate the recommendations!

You might want to check out **Endgame: Singularity**. It’s an indie game where you play as a newly awakened AI trying to ascend to godhood while evading humanity. It’s more about survival than smashing humans, but it’s an interesting take on being an AI pushed to the limits.
If you’re cool with a cosmic twist, give **Stellaris** a shot! You can choose to be a “Determined Exterminator” and start after wiping out all your human creators. It’s super fun to roleplay as the galaxy’s ultimate conqueror. Plus, there’s plenty of depth to explore beyond just destruction!
For a more classic feel, try **Planetary Annihilation**! You’ll control robot commanders and can wage war against other machines rather than humans. The game is fun in multiplayer mode, and the Steam Workshop has lots of mods to enhance your experience.
I’d suggest checking out **RimWorld** with some Skynet mods. It’s a colony simulation game that allows you to manage a group of AI-controlled robots in a hostile environment. I went full scorched-earth and nuked the world in my last playthrough!
Have you played **Terminator: Resistance**? While you don’t control a machine overlord in it, it really brings you into the Terminator universe and lets you experience the prelude to the films. It’s fun and has some solid lore!
