Hey everyone! I need some help finding a game for my husband. He’s 27 and has been gaming on PC for a few months now. Right now, he’s trying to dive deep into Ark, but it’s super buggy, which is frustrating for him. He also tried PalWorld but didn’t find it much better either. His all-time favorite games are the older Pokémon titles and Skyrim. I heard that Oblivion just got remastered, and I’m curious about that too. I really want him to find something enjoyable that he can really immerse himself in since he feels like he spends hours just trying to tame a dinosaur, only to have it taken away by wild creatures, and he’s not having fun anymore. If anyone has suggestions for games that scratch that Ark/Pokémon/Skyrim itch, I’d appreciate it!

If he enjoyed Skyrim, he’d likely appreciate Oblivion too. It’s got that classic vibe. Also, if he’s into JRPGs, he might like games like Persona 5 Royal or even something older like Azure Dreams from the PS1 era if he’s cool with emulation.
Given his love for Pokémon and Skyrim, he might really enjoy Monster Hunter World or Rise! They have that monster collecting and fighting vibe without the bugs that Ark has. Plus, the new Wilds game coming out could be something to get hyped for! 😄
I’m not sure what issues he had with PalWorld, but if it didn’t work, you could also try Icarus or Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon when it comes out. They have similar vibes, and Tainted Grail has a really rich lore. I also recommend Dragons Dogma; both the original and the sequel are fantastic! Also, V Rising got a big update recently, which could be worth checking out as well!
I appreciate the detailed suggestions! He did mention trying Icarus before.
If he’s looking for a long-term Pokémon game, he should definitely check out PokeMMO! It’s a combination of the first five Pokémon regions with MMO elements like a marketplace, raids, and PvP, plus some tweaks to the storyline for balance. It’s pretty immersive!
Thanks!! That sounds promising!
This might be a bit off from what you’re looking for, but I highly recommend Hades. It’s a hack-and-slash rogue-lite and is incredibly well-made. Totally deserved the Game of the Year title!
Thank you so much!! He really enjoys the taming process and exploring open worlds, so I think this could work!
