I’m a 29-year-old guy with a full-time job, and I’m recently engaged, planning my wedding. I’m trying to unwind a bit but still crave that competitive nature I got from playing League of Legends. Unfortunately, ranked games are just stressing me out, norms are frustrating, and ARAM doesn’t do much for me. My gaming time is pretty limited—maybe an hour or two on weekdays and around four hours on weekends. I got back into League after a long break because a close friend I used to game with moved away and I wanted to reconnect over it, but I really need a break now. Here’s some context: I’ve put hundreds of hours into games like WoW, OSRS, Age of Empires 2, Warcraft 3, Total War Medieval 2, Far Cry 3/5, Skyrim, Witcher 3, Dynasty Warriors, Assassin’s Creed, Red Dead 2, and NBA 2K. I have an MSI gaming laptop and a console controller. Any good recommendations?

You might want to try fighting games! Tekken 8 has a lot of the competitive feel similar to League, involving spacing and strategy, but the vibe is different enough to take a break from MOBAs. Just keep an eye out, though; its just released which means it might still have some balancing issues.
Totally get that craving for a challenge! Have you tried Teamfight Tactics? It’s perfect for quick games in the evening and you might enjoy it with your friend. If you’re into roguelikes, I recommend Hades and Dead Cells for some excellent gameplay. For something more strategic, XCOM 2 is awesome!
TFT sounds like a solid fit for you! It’s way more chilled than League, and you can have fun without all the stress.
